NEW WEAPON FOR THE INTERNATIONAL ROAD WARRIOR
Dell Launches Pan-European PC Card Modem
AUSTIN, Texas, August 2, 1995 -- Today international travelers armed with Dell Computer
Corporation's (Nasdaq: DELL) new TransNational II Data/Fax Modem and Dell Latitude
notebook can send data and fax messages more easily while traveling throughout Europe with
the convenience of a single, credit card size modem. In the past, business travelers had
to load their suitcases down with multiple modems or bulky cables and connectors designed
for each country they
visited.
The Dell TransNational II Data/Fax Modem, available immediately in the United States and
Europe, is accompanied by a user-friendly Windows-based software application. This
software enables an executive traveling, for example, from
Sweden to Germany to easily and quickly reconfigure their modem for Germany's telephone
system. By clicking on an icon representing the country's flag, the modem is automatically
reconfigured in seconds.
The Dell TransNational II Data/Fax Modem costs $399. The Plug-and- Play ready PC card
slides easily into one of the notebook PCMCIA slots. The modem comes in a
protective case with two set-up diskettes and a quick installation guide.
Dell's TransNational II Data/Fax Modem is certified in seven countries today including
Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States.
Dell expects to add more countries in the future.
